The city
Hasselt is a city located on the river Zwarte Water and the canal Dedemsvaart. The Zwarte Water used to have an open connection with the Zuiderzee. The first inhabitants settled on the higher lying sand ridges on the river side. The oldest parts of Hasselt are still clearly recognizable because of their higher location (Hoogstraat, Markt, Ridderstraat and Eiland).

The CamperParkingHasselt.NL is situated in a beautiful location; on a Bastion of Hasselt, where the city walls can still be seen in contours. Even the old city wall is present, but not visible everywhere.
